The main square in Couiza.
Situated between Quillan (12 Km)
and Limoux (15 Km), Couiza at the beginning of the century was a prosperous town.
The hat factories at this time were employing the majority of workers and it ws
the same story in most of the neighbouring villages.
Site of an old Roman
oppidum , Couiza was attached to the abbaye at Lagrasse sous Charlemagne.
